Our Health Physics Monitor apprenticeship is a Level 2, 24-month programme that trains you to monitor radiation and ensure safety across our nuclear facilities. Health Physics Monitor apprentices from part of our Health & Safety area of the business and use specialist instruments to carry out radiological monitoring. The measurements they take are interpreted so protection advice can be provided to Nuclear Operators. They support work activities where radiation and contamination are identified as hazards; taking measurements of radiation dose rates and contamination levels, monitoring personnel, responding to alarms and supporting emergency arrangements. Our Nuclear Operator apprenticeship is a Level 2, 24-month programme that prepares you to safely operate and monitor processes within our nuclear facilities. A Nuclear Operator is responsible for the hands-on operation of plant systems and equipment on their facility. Operators will be trained in procedures for plant control and monitoring, sampling operations, environmental controls, radioactive discharges, emergencies and other systems such as ventilation, steam and cooling water and dealing with the handling & disposal of radiological and hazardous waste.
