The Construction Profession is key in an integrated project delivery model.

Construction professionals are key in the integrated project delivery team, the team ensure the construction elements of complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects are delivered whilst assuring compliance with relevant Nuclear Site License Conditions, predominantly Construction or Installation of New Plant (SLC19).

Before construction work begins the construction professional works within the project team to develop and implement construction strategies and plans in line with the overall project delivery model. Overall, the construction profession is required to review technical work before, during and after implementation, has responsibility for nuclear and radiological safety during the construction phases and plays a significant role in achieving major milestones in the decommissioning of Sellafield site.

  • Construction graduates at Sellafield will gain exposure to various aspects of project delivery, including design and, of course, experience in construction works across multiple operational plants/sites. This diverse experience during their placement supports their career development and pathways to chartered status in their chosen discipline. A career in construction involves tackling technical site challenges and offers opportunities to work on innovative systems unique to Sellafield, providing graduates with valuable skills and insights not commonly found elsewhere.

  • Successful graduates will typically leave their two-year placement and enter the construction profession within a Sellafield project team. There is further possibility for career progression through the Construction Profession Career Pathway as experience grows.

  • We’re looking for graduates with a minimum of a 2:1 Bachelors degree in:

    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
